Uniform Conformity was Challenged at Charlie Constaninou AW26.

Charlie Constantinou AW26 explored the history and archetypes of uniform. Historic techniques of braiding, appliques and decorative pleating were combined with modern fabrics, transforming the traditional uniform into fluid garments, individual to each wearer.

The collection was shown through colour scheming. First, models walked the catwalk in grey utility jackets, pleated skirts and darted rib dresses, followed by green hoodies and trousers that were pleated at the knee. The collection gradually moved from grounding, earthy tones that represented 'a sense of weathered utility' to bold reds (referencing British military coats) and bursts of purple and blue to protest against strict conformity.

The collection was made using dead stock fabric that was dyed and hand-brushed in-house. Alongside the use of technical nylons that are usually present in a Charlie Constantinou collection, a selection of organic dead stock materials were incorperated. Cottons, boiled wool and raw silk were added to the roster.

This collection also introduced a collaboration with reusable bottle brand Chillys. 3D bottle sleeves hung from the shoulders of models, following the established colour scheme.
